Description: The North Wharf, also known as the new wharf, has recently been reconstructed and was officially opened on the 29th of January 2010.
The new wharf was opened in 1909 and is still used by local fishing boats for the unloading of fish and loading of ice, water and fuel. It is also a fishing structure which provides the angler with access to a large variety of species. There was a factory which seems to be closed (2012).
Nowadays is on the wharf Kaikoura Marine Centre and Aquarium - www.marineaquarium.co.nz
